The Miami Valley Silverbacks are pleased to announce they will return for their fifth season of play in 2010. The Silverbacks will once again participate in the Continental Indoor Football League, their fourth season in the league.
The 2010 Silverbacks will feature a new coaching staff, led by Minor League Football News Hall of Fame head coach, Brian Wells. Wells has previously been head coach of the Dayton Warbirds (National Indoor Football League and was an assistant head coach and special teams coordinator for the Cincinnati Marshals (National Indoor Football League), Louisville Fire and Cincinnati Swarm (arenafootball2). Additionally, Wells guided the semi-pro Kings Comets to the Mid-Continental Football League championship in 2009 and named MCFL Coach of the Year.
Derrick Davidson will serve as Offensive Coordinator. Davidson has head coaching experience with the Dayton Bulldogs (NIFL) in 2005 and the Marshals in 2006, and led the semi-pro Mt. Carmel Fire to the United States Football Association playoffs in 2009. Additional coaches will include former Miami University standout Tremayne Banks, who will serve as receivers coach.
The Silverbacks will play as a traveling team in 2010 as we work towards an agreement for a home arena for 2011.
Tryouts will be held in early January, with the season beginning in March.
The Continental Indoor Football League will play a 10-game schedule.
